Learn How to Teach Group Fitness Classes

This comprehensive Infofit Group Fitness Instructor course is designed to prepare students for both the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) Group Fitness certifications, as well as provide hands-on training and practical knowledge in the field of group fitness instruction. With 90% of class time dedicated to working out and hands-on learning, students will be prepared to take on the role of a group fitness instructor upon completion of the course.

This course is available both in-person and online, giving students the flexibility to choose the format that best suits their needs. Whether you are looking to become a group fitness instructor at a gym, community center, or start your own fitness business, this course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed.

Throughout the course, students will learn key elements of being a group fitness instructor including cueing techniques, the use of music and choreography for indoor classes, different types of choreography and outdoor fitness classes, what makes a great fitness instructor, lesson development, safe and effective strength exercises, adult learning principles, building relationships and putting a class together, and incorporating a variety of equipment into your classes.

In addition, this course is designed to help students prepare for both the ACE and BCRPA Group Fitness Instructor certification exams, which are recognized certifications in the fitness industry both in the USA and British Columbia. This course is also a great choice for those who are looking to expand their fitness knowledge, improve their teaching skills and advance their career in the fitness industry.

Inclass

  • In person at our Vancouver location.
  • The course is offered 3 times per year and you can see the schedule on this page.
  • The course is very practical, please expect to be working out/demoing during the course.
  • Workbook is included in the cost of the course.
  • Approved for 1.4 ACE CEC’s and 16 BCRPA CEC’s.

Personalized In class

  • In person at our Vancouver location.
  • The course is offered as one-on-one instruction and can be started anytime.
  • The course is very practical, please expect to be working out/demoing during the course.
  • Workbook is included in the cost of the course.

Online

  • The course can be started anytime, provided you meet the course prerequisites.
  • The course will be emailed shortly after you purchase the course.
  • You will need to submit a mixture of written assignments and video assignments to complete the course; you will need to record these on your phone or camera.
  • You will have 4 months to complete the course.
  • Approved for 16 BCRPA CEc’s.

Refund Policy

  • There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee for the In Class Course Group Fitness Course. No refunds 7 days prior to the class date, transfers are permitted.
  • For the Home Study, as all course material is sent as soon as you register, the Home Study Course in non-refundable.

Prerequisites

For International Certification:

  • Completion of Infofit’ s Fitness Theory Course or equivalent

BCRPA Registration:

  • Passed the BCRPA Provincial exam with 80% and registered with BCRPA
  • Hold a current First Aid & CPR
